Gastric Bypass? Lap Band Surgery? C’mon On Son! GTFOH!!!

Posted by: admin  :  Category: gastric bypass surgery information

http://www.myhealthyshores.com/lourileylive | In this video, I walk through one of my workouts where I get in resistance as well as cardio work all in one session. Simply put, in between resistance exercises, I jumped rope 50x. I did four sets of four exercises which comes out to about 800 turns of the jump rope during my workout session.

During my workout, the idea to do a fitness bootcamp for people who want to exercise, but have issues with obesity. Many times, just like it was with me, these folks start off doing something, then fall right off for a lack of support. I believe that this is a part of something I am supposed to be doing. It’s all about giving back.

Even though I have not reached my goals, I have come a long way. I still consult with a group of extremely fit people so that I can continue to challenge myself and stay on top of things. My goal is to start this project on October 1, 2009. Now that I have put it out there, let’s see what happens when I take a leap of faith on this vision of mine.

Dreams mean work,

Patient ED @ 617-379-1582 INFO
Your doctor has recommended that you undergo laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. But what exactly does that mean?

Gastric Bypass is a surgical procedure used to help a patient lose weight.
It is usually recommended to help those who are morbidly obese – meaning that their weight problem has become a serious health risk.

Most severely overweight patients overeat. Food enters the body through the mouth, travels down the esophagus where it collects in the stomach.
From there, digested food passes into the small intestine. Nutrients taken from the food pass from the small intestine into the bloodstream.
Patient Education:

Waste travels to the colon and leaves the body through the anus.

The amount of food that a person eats is partly controlled by appetite. The stomach plays an important role in controlling appetite. When the stomach is empty, a person feels the urge to eat. When the stomach is full, that urge goes away.

Gastric bypass dramatically reduces the size of the stomach. Gastric Bypass also shortens the small intestine so that the body absorbs less of the food eaten.

With less food entering the body, fat stores begin to be used. The patient loses weight.

So make sure that you ask your doctor to carefully explain the reasons behind this recommendation.

Information and opinions about Gastric Bypass Surgery?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: gastric bypass surgery information

I am overweight. Have been most of my life. I am looking at the pro’s and cons to gastric bypass. I just have questions for those who have had it. I have yo-yo dieted for years, I was skinny for a few years then balloon. Then back to a decent weight. Got pregnant and now I have ballooned again. I was recently diagnosed as morbidly obese though my height and build doesn’t make me look THAT big. I do NOT have any serious health issues other than the obesity, but have family history of several related medical problems. My mother was extremely over weight and died in January due to complications from diabetes and cancer. I want to do something about this now. I plan on doing a year at LA Weight Loss and a personal trainer at a local gym. If I dont get nice results I want to look at surgery. Please tell me side effects, complications, Insurance issues, psychological effects, can I have kids again after, and anything else you might like to add. Good and bad.
please star for so lots of people can see I want the most opinions I can. I have done research on it but havent really heard testimonials.
OKOKOK stop this people Answer the question at hand. I KNOW its un-natural and you are not helping me by reminding me. I need to hear FEEDBACK on people WHO HAD the surgery or went through the STEPS to getting it done.
Barbara are those statistics for IF you have the surgery or IF you dont? I am confused

I had RNY Gastric Bypass surger y In Oct 2007. I have lost 108 pounds in 8 months. I wore a size 24/26 and weighted 298 pounds the day of my surgery. Now I wear a size 12 and I’m still losing. I have had NO complications from surgey. The risk of Dying from the surgery is the same as any other surgery. The surgery is only performed by specialists and the risk of complications has fallen to an all-time low. In fact the complication with the highest risk is not dying, it is Divorce!
My surgery was covered 100% through my insurance (Tricare Prime). You have to be at least 100 pounds overweight with a BMI of at least 40. Some insurance companies require psychiatric evaluations, appointments with a nutritionist and other requirements before getting a bypass. Mine did not.
Yes, you can have children. They ask that you not get pregnant until at least one year after surgery to allow your body to heal. Any pregnancy post-surgery are considered high risk, though. I know 6 people that have had gastric bypass and then had children. none of them had complications and they had beautiful, healthy babies!
The surgery is not for everyone. It is not a quick fix to being obese. it is a tool. It will limit the amount of food you can eat. You cannot eat fried foods, high fat foods or foods with sugar. You must watch the amounts you eat since you pouch can only hold 1/2 to 1 cup of food. You have to make sure you eat 70 grams of protien a day. Hair loss is normal after 6 months and stops after your weight stablizes. B12 deficiency is common and some people must take B12 shots for life. You will have to take vitamin supplements and calcium supplements for life.
It is not "unnatural". I don’t feel like a failure or useless. I am healthier than ever. I did this for my family. I wanted to see my 5 year old graduate from college. I wanted to be around to see him marry and have children of his own. I didn’t do this to become "skinny" but to become healthy and live longer.
