Gastric Bypass Surgery Information - What You Need to Consider
Gastric bypass surgery information can help the person considering this major procedure to understand all that is involved when choosing it. These type of surgeries change the size of the stomach, which also changes the amounts of food that can be consumed. They are offered to patients that want to lose weight and help prevent them from developing unhealthy disorders and diseases that are often associated with obesity. This weight loss surgery is the most commonly used weight loss procedure performed in the United States. Physicians choose this procedure over others because of its low risks and its long-term effects on weight loss. Of course, there are some side effects and risks, like all surgical procedures and understanding this gastric bypass surgery information can help patients when making the decision to choose this surgical procedure.
There are many different types of gastric bypass surgery, but the most commonly used one involves the stomach being stapled, creating a pouch with a passage to allow food to be rerouted to avoid a certain part of the small intestine. This procedure is called Roux-en-Y. For gastric bypass surgery information about the normal requirements for this procedure, patients should understand that doctors prefer to perform this on people who have not had success losing weight with conventional methods. They also should have a body mass index of 40 or above or 35 to 39.9 when serious medical conditions are present such as high blood pressure or diabetes. Although this procedure works well to reduce weight, the patient must also do their part of eating properly and maintaining an exercise routine.
The most important gastric bypass surgery information to know is the risks that can sometimes occur. As will all surgical procedures the patient may experience infection, bleeding or have a reaction to the anesthetic that is used. They also could have complications such as not being able to tolerate certain foods, becoming dehydrated, developing a bleeding ulcer, kidney and gallstones, hernias at the site of the incision or hypoglycemia.

Pics from over the last two years after gastic bypass. I’m sure my doctor wouldn’t like the fact I still drink a little beer and still trying to quit smoking, but I thought it would be cool to upload these photos and share a little.

http://www.gastricbypasssanfrancisco.com/rose-procedure-dr-feng-san-francisco-ca.htm he ROSE procedure essentially involves reducing the gastric bypass stoma and pouch smaller using endoscopic techniques and special instruments. New surgical tools now allow surgeons to reduce the size of the pouch and stoma through the patients mouth without making external cuts into the body. Your surgeon may refer to this as the ROSE procedure, which stands for Restorative Obesity Surgery, Endolumenal.

gastro bypass surgery
I was watching an old rerun of Opera just then and I had to pass it since I was getting so mad.
They were talking about giving the operation to children and the parents were saying that there kids need it, and they were talking to the kids about how it changed them and they were saying how they couldn’t keep two cheeseburgers with fries down anymore, they could only eat one with fries.
I swear to you I SCREAMED at my television.
It seemed so ridiculous to me that a parent would put there child through an invasive surgery to stop them from over eating rather then controlling what they ate.
I am slightly prejudiced on this because I am vegan but a healthy well balanced vegan lifestyle cuts out all saturated fats and trans fats out of your diet as well as processed sugars.
Eating a diet of fresh fruit, veg, grains, nuts, and seeds seems so much less drastic then surgery.
Even when asked about their eating habits now they were saying they just bought lower calorie foods.
So, that sounds just like a whole lot of processed foods rather then the fresh stuff.
Gosh, one of the kids put on 50 pounds in a month! How is that possible, yet they are advocating that the surgery helped them and that they tried all these diets…
It wasn’t diabetes since they were checked for all that, these kids just over ate all the wrong foods.
Am I the only one who thinks that this represents a serious problem in Western culture (I’m in Australia but I KNOW this is a problem in most Western countries)??
THANKS
OPRAH! SORRY!
BTW I KNOW you can be overweight eating vegan, I said CAN be.
There is HEAPS of vegan junk food out there that’s why I noted the good foods.
People want a quick fix.
In a country that offers its citizens a fast way to solve almost anything – people really do expect these things to be readily available.
It would be cheaper simply to not let your kids become gluttons.
Their eating habits are those you teach them. An assortment of fresh fruit is just as tasty as a bag of chips or sugary snack.
Keeping the kids active is key also. They need at least 30 min to an hour of strenuous exertion whether it’s an organized activity or just running around.
People just aren’t ready to give up the junk food. They like to be nice and comfortable while they consume this junk food too – often sitting hours in front of the TV or dozing off.
I think the surgery route to treat obesity is dangerous for anyone – child or adult.
However I think we should begin to feel outraged when the child began to overeat rather than later when drastic measures are taken.

My sister is considering this surgery and I am helping her collect as much information as I can. I’d especially like to know if there are any bad side effects, the cost of the operation and if there are certain countries where it can be done cheaper.
back when this surgery was relatively new my mom had it.. she lost LOADS of weight in a small period of time which is never ever good, she also was not warned about the so called " dumping" that comes along with it essentially its if you eat the BAD foods such as high fatty foods you’d become quite ill because the pouch in which she had couldn’t handle it..they also didn’t tell her to take vitamins which is essential in actually getting the nurtrients you need because once you have this surgery your food intake goes down dramatically..as I said there have been major advances in this surgery since she had it but still there are major risks and should only be considered if a doctor recommends it.. there are several tests you must pass first to even know if you qualify for this surgery.. but if you do and you take your doctors advice and you treat yourself well after the surgery I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be successful.. just remember that with any surgery there are risks and with weight loss you must always maintain it for it to work on a long term effect. Good Luck to her! I hope she doesn’t go off somewhere else to have this surgery.. they could really botch her up and seriously its not even something *I* would consider doing.. just do it here in the states if you are approved. As far as costs I am not so sure she is just going to have to talk to a doctor and he can give her all that information.. I hope I helped you out some!

gastro bypass surgery
I had gastric bypass surgery but didn’t develop gastroparesis. About a month after surgery I did experience some vomiting but that was because I was healing so narrow. No food or water could get through. I finally contacted the surgeon and they had me come in and they did a stomach scope to expand it back out to where it was suppose to be after surgery. I’d contact the surgeon and ask what to do! Good luck!

Which was one week ago.. When am I going to start dropping more lbs? This is very discouraging and I feel like my body isn’t going to lose any more weight. Can anyone give me some insight into this?
I’ve heard from so many people "this happens" and "give it time" but I’ve even gained 2 lbs. from when I was put on pureeds. What’s going on??
Are you watching your calories? You’d be surpriesd how easy it is to go over your calories when on pureed foods. You should be eating about 800 calories a day..tops. There is abslutely no way you should be gaining any kind of weight. No way. Go talk to your surgeon now.
I had my RNY done Oct last year. It’s been 8 months and I’m 110 pounds lighter and 40 pounds from my goal weight.. It is normal to plateau for a couple weeks but not when you are 2 weeks out of surgery. If I remember correctly, I lost 30 pounds the first month alone. Please go see your surgeon. You should not be gaining weight. Keep a food diary. Write down what you eat and the quantities and take it with you to see your surgeon.
